Home Modifications Funding

Wayne S. Lesher IV Company understands that paying for much needed home modifications isn’t always easy.  That’s why we’ve done some research and located a number of state and federal programs that provide financial assistance for home modifications.

In addition, WLC may be able to help with local financing.  Give us a call and we can talk more about it.

State Programs

Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF):

•  
• Eligibility – People with disabilities or older people needing Assistive Technology,     
•    including home modifications.
• Age qualification – all ages
• Funding Available – $500 to $25,000 if you need PATF's loan guarantee; otherwise, if you have traditional credit, you may borrow whatever you need.
• Administered by – PATF Funding Assistance Centers (FACs) (at webpage below, click on “Funding Assistance Centers”)
• Vehicle mods – Yes

• PATF will also provide loans to people who don't usually qualify to traditional bank loans -- applicants must just have a willingness and ability to repay a loan.  PATF provides loans to people of all ages, income levels and disabilities throughout Pennsylvania.  A partial grant may be available for applicants who want to borrow up to $1,000 and who have low-incomes (under 14,700/year). PATF also provides consumers with information about other possible funding resources. 

Self Determination Housing Project (SDHP):

•   Eligibility –People with permanent physical disabilities.  Low to moderate income.
•   Age qualification – All ages
•   Funding Available –Locally determined
•   Administered with a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that serves counties that are not covered by the PA Accessible Housing Program from DCED.

 OPTIONS Program:

•   Eligibility –older person not eligible for Medicaid. Clinical need. Total care plan cannot exceed $625 per month (6 month average)
• �  Age qualification – 60+
• �  Home Modification Funding Available – over $6,000 requires PDA approval.
•   Administered by – Area Agency on Aging (AAA)
•   Vehicle modifications – None

Federal Programs

United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant

•   Eligibility – Veterans who have service-connected disability due to military service and
  lost at least one lower extremity, plus other disabilities
•   Age qualification – 18+ No time limit on use of grant.
•   Funding Available – not more than 50% of cost up to $50,000 maximum
•   Administered by – VA office where the veterans records are located

•   Vehicle modifications – None
